August 2022 Crime Report

August has been a very busy month for our Police as they pursue suspects and tidy up after some very anti-social individuals!

On 1st August, entry was gained to a Blair St property when perpetrators cut a hole in the wall/roof of a building and stole a generator and laser level.

On 4th, overnight entry was gained to a Kensington St club carpark, and 200 litres of diesel was stolen from a truck.

7th – In the early hours, a house under construction on Lower Rd was entered by perpetrators who smashed a window and stole a heat pump unit.  On the same night, a vehicle parked on Dixon St was broken into by unknown means, started, and moved down the street before being set alight.

13th –  On Gourlay St in Maydena, the f ront door of a residence was forced, and a large amount of property stolen.

14th –  Entry was gained to a residence on Charlotte St via an open window. The offender was scared off by a person at the home.

20th –  Overnight, wheelie bins were set alight, spreading to shops on High St. The Police are pursuing five suspects.

22nd –  In the early hours, two males were observed smashing a window to a home on Charlotte St, and throwing a lit bottle at a second window. Minor damage occurred to the building.

Several offences occurred on 24th: On Purdon Ave, CCTV captured a male suspect entering a rear yard and stealing keys, and cans of soft drink from a fridge. Entry was forced to a vehicle, but nothing stolen. Police are pursuing a suspect in this matter.

Also on this day on Seventh Ave , overnight entry was gained to a residence via an unlocked sliding door. An amount of property was stolen. Police are pursuing a suspect.

On Derwent Terrace during the early hours, a grinder was stolen from a rear shed. A male was scared off by the home owner after the perpetrator attempted to steal a vehicle.  Police are pursuing a suspect.  And on North Cres, overnight entry was gained to a residence via an unlocked garage door. The male offender was scared off by the owner. Nil property was stolen. Police are pursuing a suspect.

On 25th on Macquarie Court, CCTV captured two males overnight, attempting to gain entry via a rear door. These offenders have been charged.  And on Sharland Ave, two males gained entry to residence overnight by locating hidden keys. A motorcycle was stolen. These offenders have been charged.  Also, during the morning, two males entered a residence on Andrews St via an unlocked sliding door. The owner scared them off. These offenders have been charged.

28th –  During the morning,  unlocked rear sheds on Barnett Ave were entered, and four speakers stolen. Police are pursuing two suspects.

On Mayne St in Maydena, during the evening of 29th, CCTV captured three persons checking locks and windows on a property.

31st –   It was discovered that over a period of a month, power tools had been stolen from an unlocked cupboard on the rear patio to a property on Trevor Tce.  During the same evening, rocks were thrown through three windows on Kensington St.

Matters remain unsolved unless otherwise stated. Police are anxious to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed any of the above incidents or who have observed any suspicious activity in the neighbourhood. Whilst the information may seem trivial it may be the vital clue that Police are seeking to either solve or deter crime.
