The cold weather has not been a deterrent to thieves and other criminals during the month of July.
On 2nd, the New Norfolk Shell Coles Express on Hamilton Road was targeted at 5 am when a male in dark clothing removed milk from a delivery truck whilst the driver was away from the vehicle. 50 milk cartons were taken. Also on 2nd, at 10 am, three females were seen defacing the walls of the Woolworths supermarket with graffiti.
Around 11.47 pm on 8th July, a mauve Nissan X-Trail was stolen from Sharland Ave and pushed down the road. Being unable to start the vehicle, the offenders set it alight and destroyed it.
Overnight on 10th, a white Ford Ranger utility was stolen from Ellendale Rd and later set alight on Glenora Road, Plenty.
A black Chromogen 170ltr hot water cylinder heat pump unit was stolen from a site on Andrews St over the weekend of 10-11th July.
At 05:17 am on 15th, the IGA supermarket on Benjamin Tce was broken into, with a quantity of cigarettes and other miscellaneous items being stolen.
A vehicle parked on Hobart Rd overnight on 16th July was damaged when a bottle of beer was smashed into the driver’s side window.
Sometime overnight on 16th, a silver Mazda 3 parked in a driveway on Elderslie Rd was badly scratched.
Very alarmingly, Aggravated Robbery occurred at 7 pm on 18th July, with a victim being approached by two persons on a motorcycle on Charles St in New Norfolk. The victim was assaulted and his mobile phone stolen.
Further Aggravated Burglary occurred on the weekend of the 18th when thieves gained entry to a home on Benjamin Tce and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.
Between 17-20th July, a silver Holden Rodeo utility was stolen from the Football Club car park on Back River Road. Licence number B26SS.
Overnight on 21st July, 108 treated pine logs (140mm x 45mm x 3.6m) were stolen from a building site on Kensington St.
On 26th, a red Hyundai Hatch was left for a short time on Andrews St and was stolen and later recovered on Peppermint Hill.
Also on 26th, a yard was broken into on Cockatoo Gully Rd in Elderslie, and a 4-year-old English Staffordshire Terrier named ‘Tank’ was stolen.
On the same day, a male offender smashed the door of the McDonalds café in New Norfolk. The offender has been identified.
There were two counts of Burglary/Stealing on 27th: At 4 am, the Mitre 10 store on Charles St was entered and a number of Stihl chainsaws were stolen. And various equestrian equipment was stolen from a property on Pulpit Rock Rd.
Police are eager to hear from any member of the public who may have witnessed any of the above incidents or who have observed any suspicious activity in the neighbourhood.
