Crime Reports April 2020

April was a month of burglary and attempted burglary, beginning with the theft of a blue Hyundai i30 hatchback on April 7, from a driveway on the Lyell Highway at Hayes.

A car alarm alerted owners to an attempted car theft at 6:40 PM on April 13 in Pearson Street. The Derwent Terrace area was targeted during the month with a green Nissan Patrol being stolen overnight while parked on the street on April 26. An attempted aggravated burglary occurred at a house on the 15th when a front door lock was damaged.

Also on the 15th, a vehicle in Quarry Street was reported as damaged by unknown persons sometime during the week prior to the report being made.

On April 9, batteries were removed from an electric signage board on Boyer Road.

An offender entered the New Norfolk Launderette on April 17, damaged machines and stole a quantity of cash. The good news is that the police have identified the perpetrator and he has been charged with the offence.

On April 20, a logging truck site on Hamilton Road was entered by thieves who cut a fence to gain access and removed property from the trucks.

Five Great White light bars were stolen.

Two further reports were taken on April 3 and 4, about unknown persons taking firewood from Peppermint Hill Reserve.
