New Norfolk Neighbourhood Watch

What a year it has been!

Considering the Covid-19 restrictions which have been in place over the past year, as NNNW we have still been able to achieve all the aims and objectives we set ourselves in 2019.

We have continued to share information via both printed and social media, achieving more than 1400 followers on our Facebook page. We distribute topical, relevant, local news and regular crime reports – our most popular posts by far! By preparing weekly newspaper and online articles in place of physical events, we reach a larger portion of the community, so everyone can be kept up to date.

In 2020, we partnered with Derwent Valley Council to deliver the Streetsmart Handbook to Year 10-12 students of New Norfolk High School. October brought about the launch of the Connecting Derwent Valley e-hub – the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work – which continues to support community connection by allowing all the groups in the Valley to be accessed from within the one website. If you haven’t yet checked it out, now might be a good time!

Our online Poll regarding the community’s perceptions of personal safety, yielded some interesting but not altogether unexpected results, which we reported via local media.

It has been an interesting year full of change, but we will continue to build on our strengths and become involved in events which bring the community together. And we continue to pursue a connection with the constabulary as this is a key component of our work as a NHW group, with a Cuppa-With-A-Cop event to take place in early November. Further details to come. Hope to see you all there!
